Host responsibilities
Turo permits service animals to travel in any car on the platform. You must follow these US, Canada, and UK laws but aren’t required to go beyond these accommodations. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support don’t qualify as service or assistance animals.
Host rights
We encourage guests who are traveling with a service animal or with a pet (non-service animal) to choose a vehicle that’s been labeled “pet friendly” and to notify their host that they’ll be bringing a service animal or pet. If you haven’t labeled your car as “pet friendly” and a guest books the car and indicates that they’re bringing a pet, you can two options. You can either grant them permission via Turo messaging, or you can cancel the trip penalty-free. If your car isn’t “pet friendly” and a guest transports a pet without your permission, you can charge them a fee of $150*, and we may remove them from Turo for violating our Terms of Service.
If a guest returns a car with significant amounts of pet hair, you can charge them a pet hair removal fee of $150*. You can offer guests a prepaid Pet Extra to cover the cost of any post-trip cleaning or maintenance. If a guest purchases a Pet Extra and returns the vehicle with multiple cleaning issues, you can still invoice them for a cleaning fee of up to $250*.
