About incident support
Incident support is another way Turo looks out for your well-being and the safety of our platform. This in-app feature uses your phone’s motion and location data to alert us to any unexpected vehicle behavior. If we receive an alert, we’ll check to be sure you’re OK. If you need help, we’ll link you to support services.
We take in this data during your Turo trip only and share it with a third party for analysis. We use the data to keep our community safe and to improve our platform. Learn more about how we collect and use data in our Privacy policy.
Download the Turo app for access to incident support. This feature is currently available for trips in the US only. This feature might not work for certain manufacturers such as Huwaei, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo.
Opt in
At first notification
Twenty-four hours before your trip starts, we’ll notify you that you can enable incident support. To do that, you have to give us permission to access your notifications, motion data, and location data. Incident support won’t work without these settings enabled. When you choose “Always” as your location permission setting, you can close the app during your trip and still be protected.
Later
If you choose to enable incident support “Later,” we’ll remind you the next time you open the app. You can update your settings to opt in right up until the time of your trip starts. Once your trip is underway, you won’t be able to enable this feature.
Opt out
Once you opt in to incident support, we’ll activate the feature on all future Turo trips. If you’d rather give permission on a trip-by-trip basis, change the app settings on your phone to opt out. If you do, we’ll ask for your permission again before your next trip.
