If there's a chance your guest will drive in London, they may incur one or more of the following charges:
- London Congestion Charge: A fee for cars operating in the Congestion Drive Zone (CDZ) during weekday peak hours
- Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge: A fee for vehicles that operate in the CDZ but don’t meet the zone’s emissions standards
- Dartford Crossing charge: A fee for vehicles that use the Dartford Crossing between 6 am – 10 pm
You must register all vehicles to a Transport for London (TFL) Auto Pay account and for Dartford Crossing pay as you go services. You also must notify guests in your vehicle listing if your car isn’t ULEZ compliant.
Guests can pay the London Congestion Charge and the ULEZ charge up to 90 days in advance. Include these payment links in your vehicle description to make it easier for guests to pay. Let them know that the deadline to pay is midnight of the following charging day. For a charge that’s issued on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, the deadline is midnight Monday. If the guest doesn’t pay on time, you’ll receive an email notification when Auto Pay charges your TFL account. At Dartford Crossing, pay as you go services will automatically charge your payment card each time your vehicle is detected using the crossing.
Make sure you’re signed up for the accounts listed above. You're eligible for reimbursement for London Congestion, ULEZ, and Dartford Crossing automatic payment charges. Once you receive notice of automatic payment, take clear photos of the bill. Make sure the date, time, location, and license plate/VIN are visible, then upload the images to Trip photos. Open the Trip details page and tap “Charge for incidentals.” You have up to 90 days after the trip end to request reimbursement.
You'll receive 100% of the automatic payment amount, up to £15 for the London congestion charge, £12.50 for the ULEZ charge, and £2.50 for the Dartford Crossing charge. You won’t receive more than the automatic payment charge. If you’re not signed up for automatic payment, a late London Congestion Charge can run as high as £130, a late Dartford Crossing charge as high as £105, and a late ULEZ charge is £80.
