What they are
Extras are optional add-ons to your trip that offer you greater ease and more adventure. They fall into two categories: 1. conveniences, such as prepaid refuel or post-trip cleaning, or 2. gear, such as picnic baskets, bicycles, and skateboards.
If a host offers Extras, you’ll see them displayed on their Vehicle page. We’ll never require you to purchase an Extra to be allowed to book a car. You can modify your trip to add or delete Extras up until the time your trip starts.
What they cost
You’ll find Extras priced from $0 to $999, depending on the price the host set. Extras are priced either per day or per trip, so read the item carefully. We’ll show you the itemized cost of any Extras you choose on the pricing breakdown of your trip.
We’ll refund you for the cost of any physical item you purchase as an Extra if the host doesn’t provide it to you at the start of your trip, just contact us.
Reimbursement
If you purchase a convenience Extra, your host can’t request reimbursement for that item after your trip ends. We’ll make an exception and charge you related costs if there’s evidence of abuse. We’re also unable to refund you for convenience Extras, so please be aware of these conditions:
Cleaning Extra
- You may have to reimburse your host for cleaning if there’s evidence you’ve returned the vehicle in extremely filthy condition.
- You cannot smoke in any Turo vehicle, even if your purchase a cleaning Extra.
Pet Extra
- You may have to reimburse your host for cleaning if there’s evidence you’ve returned the vehicle in extremely filthy condition.
Prepaid refuel Extra
- You won’t receive a refund for any unused fuel if you purchase a prepaid refueling Extra.
Protection
Extras aren’t covered under Turo-provided protection plans, and we’re not responsible for the condition of Extras. Turo isn’t liable for any damage, injury, bodily harm, or losses of any kind caused by Extras or the use of Extras.
Hosts may request reimbursement related to lost or damaged Extras. If they do, it’ll be outside of Turo, without our involvement, and in compliance with our Terms of Service.
Prohibited Extras
Select “Report this listing” on the Vehicle page if you discover a host is offering any prohibited Extras. These include: illegal, lewd, or inappropriate items; food, alcohol, drugs, or weapons; the use of rentable properties; deposits or inconvenience fees; tows or tow services; anything that violate Turo’s Terms of Service, Prohibited uses, or Community Guidelines.
