Measurement photos help the Turo claims team understand the full scope of the damage to your car. Since we do not review the damage on each car in person, good photos are essential for helping our team. Taking great photos from the get-go will reduce the amount of back and forth with your claims adjuster, and help us resolve your claim faster.
Here are some pointers for taking good photos, as well as some examples of good and bad measurement photos. If you have additional questions, please ask your claims adjuster. We are all here to help!
Pointers:
- Take clear, well lit photos.
- Make the damage the focal point of the picture, and be sure to include all of the damage in the photo.
- Use a ruler or a measuring tape. Display the inches side in the photo! (Please do not use credit cards, body parts, Starbursts, soda cans, or any other random object!)
Examples:
Pointer #1: Take clear, well lit photos and be sure to capture the full extent of the damage.

Bad Photo:
Make sure the tape measure is lined up with the damage and the photo is clearly measuring it. If it’s hard to see the damage or if it’s not lined up with the tape measure, we may need to ask for new photos, which could delay your claim resolution.
Pointer #2: Make the damage the focal point of the picture and be sure to include all of the damage in the photo.
Take one photo from far away and then another photo up close to provide context. This perspective helps us understand the full scope of the damage!
Good Example:
Bad Example:
Make sure to include all damage in the photo.
Pointer #3: Use a ruler or a measuring tape. Display the inches side of the ruler.
Good Example:
Both the damage and measurement should be visible. You might need to get closer or move back if either the damage or measurement does not come out clearly.
Bad Example:
