Weekly and monthly discounts
You can set weekly and monthly discounts from the “Pricing" section of your vehicle listing. Just enter the percentage discount you’d like to offer. If you’re using Automatic Pricing, you can still offer discounts. The lowest price you can set is $10/day*. Any weekly or monthly discount you offer will apply to each day of a trip, including days with custom prices. You’re unable to create and apply a discount to pending trip requests or to trips that are already booked or in progress.
How discounts are calculated and applied
We calculate discounts by adding up all of the prices of each day of a trip. Then we apply the percentage discount to the total. The percentage discount is applied to the cost of each day in the trip. That includes days for which you’ve set a custom price.
A weekly percentage discount will apply to all trips that are seven days to one calendar month long. A monthly percentage discount will apply to all trips that are one calendar month or longer. When a guest books a trip, the system charges them the lowest total based on the vehicle's listed rates and discounts. In order to price match with your weekly or monthly discounts, our system may apply your discount earlier than seven days or one calendar month. For example, if a guest’s six-day trip would cost more than a seven-day trip with the discount applied, we’ll apply the discount early to price match.
This applies to long-term trips as well. If a guest extends a one-week trip four times so that they end up having the car for a month or more, we’d apply the monthly discount instead of the weekly discount to the whole trip.
Custom prices for different days
You can set custom prices for a specific day or range of days. If you’re using Automatic Pricing, custom prices will override this feature. If you’re not using Automatic Pricing, your custom prices will override your default daily price.
To set a custom price:
- Go to your vehicle’s calendar on its Pricing page.
- Select the day you’d like to adjust.
- Select “Change price” and enter your custom price.
- Custom prices will show in bold on your calendar.
Custom prices for specific guests
To offer a deal before a trip is booked:
- Change your listing’s daily price
- Change your listing’s weekly or monthly discount percentage
- Change the prices for individual days as described above.
To offer a deal after a trip is booked:
As long as the trip hasn’t started, we suggest canceling the trip yourself, changing the pricing, and asking the guest to submit a new trip request at the new rate. Before you cancel the trip, confirm with the guest that they’ll rebook. If they don’t, you won’t receive any earnings for the trip. This is the only way to give a deal to a customer once a trip is booked.
Once the guest you’ve created the custom price for has submitted their trip request, be sure to quickly change your rates back so that the custom price isn’t available to other guests and only confirm requests that have the correct pricing.
To prevent guests from “window shopping” and to protect your time, we require guests to submit a trip request before being able to message a host. Given that, you can offer a discount before or after a trip has been booked, but never mid-request.
