Why does Turo care about my auto insurance score?
An auto insurance score assigns a level of insurance risk to each individual. In other words, it tells us how likely it is that you’ll file an auto insurance claim. Turo considers an auto insurance score when evaluating new guests. Doing so helps us keep our platform safe and affordable for everyone.
How do you determine my auto insurance score?
Turo receives insurance scores from the credit reporting agency TransUnion. TransUnion uses some elements of your credit report to come up with your auto insurance score. An auto insurance score is not the same as a credit score. You can learn more about auto insurance scores.
How can I resolve this issue?
If we deny you access to Turo because of a low auto insurance score, we’ll let you know via email. Check your inbox and spam/junk mail folder for an email with the Subject line “You’re unable to book on Turo.” If you believe the score we received for you from TransUnion is incorrect, take these steps:
- Write a letter of dispute to TransUnion.
- Send the letter to the mailing address we included in your email.
- If you receive a corrected auto insurance score from TransUnion, you can submit it to us for consideration.
Turo is unable to change, overrule, or disregard a low auto insurance score. Unless we receive a corrected, qualifying auto insurance score from TransUnion, we can’t allow you to book a car on Turo.
