Yes! Electric vehicles (EVs) are available on Turo. If you choose to book an EV, we suggest you do the following:
Talk to the host
The vehicle host will be the expert on their electric car, so be sure to ask them for all the pertinent information you need.
Some good questions to ask after you book are:
- How long does the charge last?
- How long does it take to charge the vehicle?
- How do I charge it?
Plan out your trip
Electric vehicles only go so far on a full charge. They average between 60-200 miles (96-320 kilometres) depending on the make and model, so it’s important that you’re aware of the duration of the charge. Build charge stops into your itinerary. Plan where and when you will stop to recharge the vehicle, so that you don’t run out of fuel. Use this helpful database to find charging stations on your trip.
When you pick up your EV, check to see that it has the required 80% or higher fuel level. You must return the vehicle with at least the same amount of charge you started with, unless you purchase prepaid recharging as an Extra from your host (not all hosts will offer this). For more information about your refueling responsibilities, read the article here.
Enjoy your eco-friendly excursion!
