Only passenger cars legally registered in the United States (except New York), in certain provinces of Canada, and in certain other countries are eligible for listing. The vehicle must be model year 2005 or newer, have fewer than 130,000 miles/200,000 kilometers, have a clean (e.g., not a "branded" or "salvage") title, must have never been declared a total loss, and have a fair market value of up to USD$150,000* in the US and CA$75,000 in Canada.** We also accept the Tesla S and the Tesla X. You can read more about vehicle coverage limits here.
The following is an illustrative list of vehicles which are ineligible for listing: passenger vans, cargo vans, box trucks, limousines, recreational vehicles (RVs), vehicles requiring a commercial license to operate legally on public roads, vehicles designed primarily for off-road use (e.g. Ford F-350s), certain makes/models such as the Lotus, farm equipment, construction equipment, motorcycles, GEM or similar vehicles not designed for highway use.
We also invite “specialty” or “classic” car owners to list their cars in our marketplace, as long as the vehicles meet our specialty car requirements. Specialty cars must be older than model year 1990, with a market value of up to $85,000 in the US and $75,000 in Canada. The car must be in excellent condition (both mechanical and physical) and have all seat belts in safe, working condition. Any specialty car is subject to additional review.
* Turo provides coverage for the actual cash value (ACV) of the car, up to a limit of USD$125,000 in the US and CAD$75,000 in Canada.
** Cars listed on Turo before March 7, 2016, that are older than model year 2005 or have more than 130,000 mi/200,000 km may remain listed as long as they are in excellent condition, don’t have a branded title, and continue to comply with all legal, safety, and mechanical standards.
Please note that you are responsible for knowing your vehicle history prior to listing your car. We recommend that you check Carfax prior to listing your vehicle in the event you are unsure of the vehicle title history.
