Before Turo started, there was no need for a law that specifically addressed car sharing. Now, legislation has passed to specifically address the topic and provide an important consumer protection: in those areas, your insurance company cannot cancel or not renew your policy simply because you rent out your car through a personal vehicle sharing program. Please note that these laws protect consumers, not commercial rental car companies who use the Turo marketplace.
