How much does a protection plan cost?
How much a protection plan costs depends on the plan you choose. The more a plan costs, the less you’re obligated to pay if there’s covered vehicle damage during the trip. We’ll offer you the chance to purchase a Turo-provided protection plan if you book a trip with a host who’s also purchased protection from Turo. We call these hosts peer-to-peer hosts. We’ll show you the available plans and their associated out-of-pocket limits so you can make your choice. We’ll display the cost of your chosen plan on the checkout screen for you to review before booking your trip.
Hosts who don’t purchase a Turo-provided protection plan are called Commercial Hosts. If you book a trip with a Commercial Host, they’ll offer you their own commercial or rental policy and perhaps other insurance products, and those prices vary. The host may include the cost of insurance in their vehicle price, or they may charge you for it outside of Turo. If insurance is separate, you’ll confirm with them the cost and payment timing.
The list below shows the protection plans available with peer-to-peer hosts and the cost of those plans. We reserve the right to change protection plan pricing at any time. Keep in mind that a host’s protection plan is unrelated to yours. It has no bearing on your financial responsibility in the event of damage. Read a detailed description of each guest protection plan — including out-of-pocket costs — for trips in the US, Canada, or the UK.
