How many miles/kilometres am I allowed to drive?
Each host chooses how many miles or kilometres they want to include for each trip. They can choose a daily, weekly, or monthly limit. You can see the mileage limit on each vehicle page under “Distance included” and when you check out.
Once you’ve booked your trip, you’ll receive an email confirmation with the mileage included, and you can access the information anytime from your Dashboard by going to “Trips,” then clicking on the trip itself and be taken to the trip details page. If you’re using the Turo app on your mobile device, you’ll be reminded of the miles or kilometres included, as well as other trip details, during the guided handoff process. Be sure to follow the prompts to record the starting and ending mileage via the app to make sure the distance you travel is accurately documented. (If you aren’t using the app, make sure to take the photos yourself and upload them to the Trip Photos section of the trip on the website or mobile web.)
How is it calculated?
Each host chooses how many miles or kilometres they want to include for their vehicle. Based on the limit they have chosen and the trip length you request, we figure the total amount of miles or kilometres allowed for your trip, and that’s what you see on the trip details page.
Is the mileage I see for the entire trip?
Yes. When you make or request a booking, we’ll list the total mileage included for your trip. If you extend your trip, the mileage amount will adjust to the new total. The total can always be viewed on your trip’s details. Some hosts may also offer an unlimited mileage option to guests as an Extra. If you know you’ll probably go over the allotted miles/kilometres, purchasing the unlimited mileage Extra might make more sense if it’s available.
Do I get more miles or kilometres if I extend my trip?
Keep in mind that your total allotted mileage may change each time you shorten or extend your trip. Depending on the length of time of the trip, though, that mileage limit will be capped by the host's pre-set amount. (For example, a trip that is extended from two weeks to four weeks will have its included distance capped at that vehicle's monthly mileage allotment, as opposed to four weekly allotments added together.) When you extend, the total amount of included miles/kilometres is updated. The amount shown when extending is not an additional amount on top of the previous amount.
What happens if I go over the miles or kilometres?
Each host sets a fee for any additional miles driven from anywhere between $.01 to $3.00 per additional mile/kilometre.* You can see how much the host charges per additional mile/kilometre under “Miles (Kilometres) included” in the trip details. Your host may charge you via the Reimbursement tool after the trip has ended, or Turo may charge you after emailing you about the cost.
