Guest rights
Turo permits your service animal (US and Canada) or assistance animal (UK) to travel in any car on the platform. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support don’t qualify as service or assistance animals. If you’re traveling with a service animal or a pet (non-service animal), you should book a vehicle that’s been labeled “pet friendly” and notify the host via Turo messaging that you’ll be traveling with a service animal or pet. You can filter search results to find “pet friendly” vehicles. If you’re traveling with a pet and book a car that’s not listed as “pet friendly,” you must ask for and receive your host's permission in Turo messaging. All animals must be in a carrier while in the vehicle.
Guest responsibilities
If you transport a pet in a non-pet-friendly vehicle without getting your host’s approval in Turo messaging, they can charge you a fee of $150*, and Turo can remove you from the platform for violating our Terms of Service. If you return the car with significant amounts of pet hair, your host can invoice you for a pet hair removal fee of $150*. Some hosts offer a prepaid pet fee as an Extra to cover the cost of any post-trip cleaning or maintenance. However, if you purchase a Pet Extra and return the vehicle with multiple cleaning issues, your host could still invoice you for a cleaning fee of up to $250*. Learn more about cleaning the car.
