Eligibility and coverage determination
You’re eligible for clutch repair reimbursement if the vehicle is less than 5 years old and has its original clutch OR is more than 5 years old and the clutch has been replaced with OEM parts by a factory-certified mechanic less than 5 years ago. If an ASE or similarly certified mechanic determines that the guest misused and damaged the clutch AND provides written certification of that determination, we’ll provide a proportional clutch repair reimbursement.
Proportional reimbursement
We calculate the proportional reimbursement based on how long the clutch was expected to last AND the number of miles the car has been driven since the clutch was installed. We presume clutches to have a normal life span of 75,000 miles (120,700 km). If you have documentation that your clutch has a longer life span, submit it with your damage claim.
Example of reimbursement
Let’s say the clutch is typically expected to last 75,000 miles (120,700 km) but failed at 50,000 miles (80,467 km) due to guest misuse. In this case, the clutch has one-third of its life remaining, so we’d reimburse you for one-third of the repair costs.
