Overview
Insurance can be complicated, so we’ll try to make it simple. Turo isn’t an insurance company. We make protection plans available to hosts and guests in Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Quebec through Intact Financial Corporation. We make protection plans available to hosts and guests in British Columbia through Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC). You can find more information on coverage by visiting Intact’s FAQ page or ICBC’s website.
Hosts and guests in Canada are eligible for the protections outlined below as long as:
- You’re a host or guest in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, or Quebec
- You’ve chosen a protection plan made available via Turo.
- That means protections don’t apply to Commercial Hosts or guests who book with these hosts.
- You comply with our Terms of Service. For hosts other than Turo Go hosts, this includes taking pre-trip photos and checking that guests have a valid license that matches the name on the booking.
Hosts
Turo makes a standard protection plan available to hosts. Hosts who choose this plan keep 70% of the trip price and receive the coverage summarized below. Coverage varies depending on when damage occurs and the province in which the trip begins. For more information you can read a detailed explanation of host protection plans in Canada.
