Turo processing times
Turo initiates most refunds as soon as a guest or host takes an action. For example, if you cancel a trip via the platform, our system auto-initiates a refund for the amount owed to you. The same is true if a host cancels your trip. Or if you change your protection plan to a less expensive option. Or if you remove an Extra or make other trip changes that result in a refund.
Security deposit refunds
We hold security deposits for 80 hours after a trip ends. This helps ensure that hosts are paid for any vehicle damage a guest causes. It also covers payment of any legitimate reimbursement requests. This Help Center article about security deposits covers all the details of these situations.
We’ll refund the security deposit 80 hours (three days and 8 hours) after the trip ends if:
- the host doesn’t report damage AND
- all reimbursement requests are successfully paid
After that, the time it takes for you to get the refund depends on your bank’s processing times.
Bank processing times
- Credit and debit cards: Up to 10 business days, but often within three to five business days
- Apple Pay and Google Pay: Up to 30 days
Unfortunately, we’re unable to get a refund to you faster. Turo refunds are almost entirely automated, so our agents can’t process them early. And your bank’s policies and protocol dictate their processing timeline. We have no influence there.
If you’re waiting for a refund, contact your bank or credit card company. Ask them their timeline for posting travel-related refunds to your account.
If you don’t receive your funds within 10 business days, contact us. We’ll send you more documentation of the refund on our end that you can present to your bank.
