When will I get my refund?
If you cancel a trip or if your host cancels, we’ll issue your refund 24 hours after the cancellation. If you’d like us to initiate the refund sooner, follow the instructions in the cancellation flow or in the cancellation notification email.
If you cancel a “Book instantly” trip less than 40 hours after you’ve booked, you won’t see a refund to your account. That’s because we authorized the charge but haven’t processed it yet. We’ll simply release the authorization, and they’ll be no record of a charge on your account.
If you submit a trip request and your host ignores or declines the request, you won’t see a refund on your account because you were never charged for the trip. We only process a charge when a host accepts a trip request.
If you make a change to your trip that results in a lower cost, our system will automatically issue your refund as soon as you complete the action. Learn more about authorizations and when you’ll be charged for a trip. If you were charged a security deposit, read the section below.
Once we initiate your refund, your bank or credit card company will process it according to their own timeline. Refunds to debit cards (including Revolut) typically take 10 business days. Refunds to credit cards typically take 3-5 business days. Refunds to Apple Pay and Google Pay may take up to 30 days.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to get a refund to you faster. Once we initiate them, they’re entirely out of our hands. Your bank’s or credit issuer’s policies and protocol dictate their processing timeline. We have no influence there. We’re unable to see the status of your refund once it’s with your bank or credit card company, so you should contact them for a status update. If you don’t receive your funds within 10 business days, contact us. We’ll send you more documentation of the refund on our end that you can present to your bank.
When will I get my security deposit refunded?
We initiate a refund of your security deposit 80 hours (3 days and 8 hours) after a trip ends if your host hasn’t reported any vehicle damage and you’ve paid any eligible reimbursement invoices from your host. After that, the time it takes for you to get the refund depends on your bank’s processing times. See “When will I get my refund?” above for more information on bank processing times. Read our Help Center article on security deposits for complete information.
