You may not list a vehicle with a branded title or one with an unclean Carfax history on Turo. A branded title indicates that a used vehicle has sustained significant damage and/or may potentially be unsafe to drive. Title brands and definitions vary by region but all are prohibited on Turo. Prohibited branded titles include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Salvaged (even if “salvage” does not appear in the title itself due to regional difference)
- Odometer Rollback/Inaccurate or inconsistent mileage
- Vehicle that had been declared a total loss at any point
- Flood/Water/Fire Damage/Hail
Similarly, you may not list a vehicle whose title has been “washed.” Because title brand definitions vary by state, sometimes a title brand will not transfer to the title in the new state, which means the title becomes "clean." You may not list cars whose titles have been "cleaned" or "washed" by registering them in states where the title brands do not transfer.
Listing a vehicle with a branded or washed title (or any of the conditions mentioned above) is a violation Turo’s policies and can result in the voiding of your protection plan, removal of your vehicle(s) from Turo, and/or temporary or permanent suspension of your Turo account.
