Trips in the US, Canada, and Germany
Once we approve an additional driver for a US, Canada, or Germany trip, we’ll notify you. You can view a driver’s status for a trip under “Booked” on your Trips tab. Only guests who’ve been formally added to the trip’s details page as drivers are approved by Turo to drive during the trip.
It’s important to note that even when a guest has added a secondary driver, that guest (aka, the primary driver) remains solely responsible for the trip. They’re the ones who must be present for the key exchange/vehicle pickup at the trip start and for the vehicle return at the end of the trip, and they are financially responsible for anything that happens during the trip, even if it was caused by their additional driver.
Trips in the United Kingdom
When a guest requests to add a driver to a trip in the UK, we’ll email you directly to notify you of the request. Turo will manually verify the extra driver’s information and will let you know whether or not they’ve been approved as an additional driver. Information about an additional driver on a trip will not be displayed in a trip’s details.
If you’re a Commercial Host -- that is, a host who provides their own commercial rental insurance to guests -- you’ll need to directly inform your guest of any additional requirements you’ve set for allowing additional drivers on a trip. Guests are unable to add a secondary driver to a Commercial Host trip via the Turo app or website.
