If you’re renting a vehicle from an owner who has opted to unlock the car remotely for you (as opposed to meeting you at the start of the trip), here’s some important information for you to know before the trip starts.
Within 24 hours before the trip starts, you’ll need to send the owner two photos: one of your license up close and one of you holding your license next to your face (sort of like a selfie). These photos should be either texted to the owner or submitted to the Trip Photos section on your Turo dashboard. It’s important that you take these photos and submit them before the trip starts. If you do not submit these photos before the trip is scheduled to start, the owner is not required to provide you with the vehicle and your trip may be cancelled as a traveler no-show! You can see some examples of how to take photos of your license here.
It’s also best if you take photos of the vehicle’s condition at the start of the trip, including pictures of the interior and exterior, photographs of the fuel and mileage level, and any pre-existing issues. You’ll also want to do this at the end of the trip when you return the car. You can upload the start and finish photos via the Trip Photos section in your Turo dashboard. These photos are to ensure a swift and clear resolution should any disagreements or issues arise. You can read more about this here and here.
